Species:Canine
Name:Buddy
Height at Withers: 32'
Weight: 85 lbs
Age: 7
Gender: Male
Personality: Buddy is pretty laid back. He is what you might call "everyone's big brother" or "grandpa figure" of sorts. He is wiser then a lot of dogs cause of his age. He has seen so much.He helps anyone and everyone with anything. He is like there extended family. Everyone knows who Buddy is. He is the best dog to run into on the streets. If you need guidance you better believe he will guide you. He has helped alot of dogs out on there own, taught them to hunt, who not to cross paths with, and what places to go to. He is like the mentor for the street canines. However, he is always there for those who live with humans. Skyline and Long Mountain dogs are great friends of his. He is there for them always, cause of there loyalty to him.
Loyalty is highly respected by Buddy. Remain loyal and you will be highly trusted and always on his good list when you get yourself into trouble. He always remains loyal to all, but if you break that respected trust and loyalty, you better believe it will never be reinstated. It's like a one strike your out, end of story.
Fighting is never something Buddy wants to deal with.Avoiding a fight is all he wants. However, if the occasion arises he will fight, and it will get nasty. No mercy if you try and hurt one of his trusted and loyal friends. Buddy has been through a lot so if you think his normally gentle nature makes him a wimp you are so wrong. He is very protective of his friends, and even canines he has never even met. He believes it is some what of his responsibility to defend others who can not defend themselves.
Buddy's gentle side is his best side. He sees no reason to be angry like some of the other dogs on there own. Why live life unhappy and bloodthirsty? Thats just not worth it in Buddy's eyes. being friendly can get you far, and you will be treated the same, most of the time. But even if it is not returned Buddy still feels great at the end of every day just for doing something great and rewarding for himself. He looks at it as kindness goes a long way and you earn less enemies that way. He even has a soft spot for humans, but that accounts for his past.
Appearance: Buddy has a very unique look to him. He is thought to have some setter ancestry which accounts for his reddish coloring. His coat contains a mixture of reds and mocha browns. His coat length is generally medium until winter arrives. In the winter it gets very thick to help the keep him warm in the harsh weather. But once spring comes it all sheds out and he's back to his normal length. His fur is flat but it does have some curls and waves to it. Especially on his back and neck is where the curls spring up every now and again. He has a black muzzle and some black on both ear ends. His eyes are big and brown and are his most observed feature. His tail curls a bit when its elevated in the air but it generally lays flat. His ears lay on each side of his head.In addition Buddy has a slight limp in his front right paw.

History: Buddy's history is short but not very sweet. He was born in the east, on a small farm. He lived with some elderly humans for some time. They fed him and sheltered him from the elements. Before he had turned one he was sold to a small family. He was to be a present to there eldest son, his name was Peter. Peter had only turned ten when Buddy was given to him. That is who gave Buddy his name, that young boy Peter. They had the greatest of times together. They took long walks in the woods and went swimming in the creek, they were ultimately inseparable. They went everywhere together.
Not too long after Buddy turned nearly three Peter's father lost his job. They were living horribly and they had no other choice but to move out west. The family had no other alternative and one afternoon they packed everything into a large covered wagon. They were leaving with a long band of wagons. It was early spring when they left on there adventure in the wagon. They were hoping to reach the far west by winter.
They were not going to leave Buddy behind of course so he made the long journey with them. Over the Plains and through the mountains. Buddy stuck to Peter's side like super glue. And if they got to tired they hoped up into the back of the wagon and were pulled along. He and Peter would try to make the best of there adventure. Chasing small critters known as "prairie dogs" and hoping in rivers and lakes along the way. It was just like home. They did have to be careful however, there were many dangers on that journey. Indians and bears being the real problems. But no worries, Peter's dad was always around.
It seemed like years before they reached the other side of the great mountains. Life had gotten very boring over there last few weeks in the wagon. They finally did reach there destination in the end though, everyone still alive and happy. Northern California is where they finally stopped that old wagon. Buddy romped and danced when that wagon came to a halt and Peter joined in for the fun of it. Peter was now nearly fourteen and he had grown so much.
They lived in a small log cabin. It was nothing fancy but it served it's purpose. Everything seemed to be getting back to normal. Buddy and Peter were getting back into there old trouble making selves when tragedy struck. Peter's little sister, Marie, came down with a bad illness. It soon spread to his other sister, Lilly, and then soon to Peter. There was no way for them to get better. They all kept getting even worse. There was no way to know what then illness was and therefore there was no cure. Buddy sat at Peter's bedside everyday, hoping, praying there was some way. Buddy's hope did no good. After a month all three children had died and that left the parents in a great depression. They would not even look at Buddy, who reminded them too much of there eldest child and only son. So one day they took him to the California border and left him and all the memories of there son.
Buddy wondered for a long time before he finally came across the town of Port Watch. Once he found the small town he never wanted to lose it so he stuck around. He has never gone to far from town since then. Now he makes a living wandering the streets and living on his own, just helping all those who need him. That is what he did for Peter, watched over him when they got themselves into a snag. But with Buddy at Peter's side they always seemed to get out of anything without and scars or missing limbs. This is what he continues to do to this very day, protect those he is loyal to.
Other: Buddy is very emotionally depressed even still about his past. Peter had been his best friend and he lost him. Buddy even misses Peter's little sisters, Marie and Lily, even though Peter and him had always played tricks on them.It had been when he and Peter were playing a trick on one of the sisters was when Buddy got his limp, but it was all in good fun. Saying that ,Buddy can be a little bit odd seeing that he is scared by his depressing past. He loves humans, even after what happened. He allows all to pat him on the head or let the small children give him hugs. This may seem odd to all you other street dogs but its what Buddy lost, and he enjoys getting it back in a way every now and then.
